To set up a dial-up connection to MWSI on your Windows ME, 98 or 95 PC, use the following instructions.

Step 1.    Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, then double-click "Dial-up Networking" from the resulting window.

Step 2.    Double-click the icon labeled "Make New Connection."

Step 3.    When prompted to enter a name for the computer you are dialing, enter "MWSI" (without quotes).  Click "Next."

Step 4.    When prompted for a telephone number to dial, enter your local access number*.  Click "Next," then click "Finish" from the resulting screen.  This should create an icon called "MWSI" in your dial-up networking window.

*Note:  Click here for a list of the dialup numbers

Step 5. (Windows 98 & 95 Only)    Click your right mouse button on this new MWSI icon, then select "Properties" from the resulting drop-down menu.  In the tab labeled "General," make sure that "Use area code when dialing this connection" is not selected.  Next, select the tab labeled "Server Types."  The only two options on this page to be selected are "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP."  Everything else in this window should be deselected.  Click OK.

Step 6.    Click your right mouse button on this MWSI icon, then select "Create Shortcut" from the resulting drop-down menu.  If you are given a prompt saying "Windows cannot create a shortcut here....."  click "Yes."  This should place a copy of this icon on your desktop.

To log into our system, simply double-click this MWSI icon on your desktop, enter your username and password (make sure your username and password are in lower case), and click "Connect."  Once you are connected, open up your browser program.
